Saba Syed Receives 2019 "Outstanding Minority Attorney Award" from Dallas Bar Association

Bell Nunnally attorney Saba F. Syed was honored on November 15 by the Dallas Bar Association (DBA) with its 2019 “Outstanding Minority Attorney Award,” as part of the DBA’s annual awards luncheon at the Belo Mansion in Dallas. The “Outstanding Minority Attorney Award” is bestowed annually and recognizes “outstanding commitment, participation, and dedication to the DBA by a minority lawyer during the year.”

“As a firm, we congratulate Saba on this well-deserved accomplishment,” said Bell Nunnally Managing Partner Christopher Trowbridge. “The DBA is fortunate to benefit from her skill and dedication – and so are we.”

Syed has been actively involved with the DBA throughout her career, including serving on its “President’s Millennial Advisory Committee,” as well as the Life Skills Committee. In 2019, she presented a DBA seminar titled, “This is Awkward: Understanding Race, Gender and Generational Gaps, Conquering Communication and Cultural Differences.” The content was later repurposed into an article for the group’s Headnotes publication in September 2019. Syed has drafted other content that was featured in the DBA President’s Column in 2019. In 2020, she will serve as Co-Vice Chair for the Continuing Legal Education Committee, in addition to her other DBA involvement. Syed is also an active member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and will serve as Co-Chair for the Judiciary Committee in 2020.

Syed practices in the firm’s Litigation and Appellate sections, representing clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, including real estate disputes, business litigation, patent litigation, and employment law. Earlier this year, Syed served on a federal court jury trial team for a patent infringement case and helped secure a defense verdict in favor of the firm’s client. She also recently secured an affirmed summary judgment by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in an age-discrimination lawsuit.
