The State Fair of Texas recently announced a record-setting fundraising haul of $1.6 million – a 19.5% increase in funds raised year-over-year and the best Auction Day in the history of the fair – accomplished under the chairmanship of Bell Nunnally Partner Heath Cheek. The State Fair of Texas is the largest annual event in Texas with roots dating back to 1886. Funds from the State Fair’s philanthropic efforts provide scholarships for inner-city Dallas and rural Texas students attending in-state colleges and universities, as well as supporting youth agricultural projects throughout the state. Cheek is serving in his second year as Chairman of the SFT Development Cabinet, the board of directors which oversees all of the State Fair’s philanthropic efforts in agriculture and education. The SFT Development Cabinet oversees a half-dozen events including the Youth Livestock Auction, the Big Tex Golf Classic, the Big Tex Champion’s Club, the Big Tex Sporting Clay Shoot, Big Tex Barn Dance, and Big Tex Choice Awards. Cheek has been a member of the State Fair’s leadership for the past ten years and will continue as Chairman in 2020.
