Bell Nunnally Elevates Four Lawyers to Partner

Bell Nunnally has elected Jarod T. Moss, David G. Webster, Brent D. Hockaday, and Brent A. Turman to partner, effective January 1.

Hockaday is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Labor, Employment and Benefits practice areas. Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in labor and employment law, he represents, advises and counsels businesses of all sizes, focusing on labor and employment and complex commercial litigation. Hockaday has substantial experience litigating matters across different forums and jurisdictions around the country, including trying multiple cases and obtaining successful jury verdicts and arbitration awards. In addition, he counsels business leaders in navigating the complexities of federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as litigation avoidance strategies and effective workplace policies, practices and procedures.

Hockaday has been quoted and written about a wide range of legal issues in outlets including the Commercial Carrier Journal and Modern Restaurant Management and the Dallas Business Journal. Named to The Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list for 2021 and selected by his peers as a “Texas Rising Star,” he is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2012) and Baylor University (B.B.A., 2005).

Moss is a member of the firm’s Commercial Finance, Corporate and Securities and Mergers and Acquisitions practices. He has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and general corporate advice. Moss regularly represents issuers and underwriters in public and private securities transactions, including public and private equity and debt offerings. He also represents sellers and buyers in both asset and equity acquisitions. Moss’ background includes more than 15 years working in the health care industry, providing him with industry insight he regularly leverages in conversations with the firm’s health care clients.

An active contributor to Bell Nunnally’s “COVID-19 Legal Services Resource Directory,” Moss is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 1998) and the University of Texas at Austin (B.S., 1995).

Turman is a member of the firm’s Litigation; Intellectual Property; and Entertainment, Advertising and New Media practice areas. His commercial litigation practice covers a variety of matters including business disputes, intellectual property, arbitration and civil RICO actions. He represents clients ranging from startups to high-net-worth individuals to Fortune 50 companies.

Recognized by his peers, Turman has been featured as a “Texas Rising Star” in business litigation for every year since 2017, a member of the 2021 “Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas” list and as a member of the Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list for 2021. In addition to serving as past president of the Texas Association of Motion Media Professionals and advisory board member for the Women Texas Film Festival, he currently sits on the Highland Park United Methodist Church Day School advisory board. Turman is a frequent writer in publications including D Magazine, the Dallas Business Journal and The Texas Lawbook. He has also given presentations across the country in nine different states focusing on litigation strategies and trial skills. He earned both his law and undergraduate degrees from Southern Methodist University (J.D., cum laude, 2012; B.B.A. and B.A., cum laude, 2007).

Webster is a member of the firm’s Litigation, Creditors’ Rights, Health Care and White Collar Criminal and Regulatory Defense practice areas. A complex commercial litigator, he represents clients in Texas and across the United States and has guided domestic clients through legal matters in Canada, Mexico and Nigeria. He regularly represents targets of white-collar criminal disputes including those attached to health care and regulation investigations. Webster’s clients include cryptocurrency issuers, oil and gas brokers and operators, police officers, physicians, hospitals, compounding pharmacies, medical organizations and medical suppliers. He handles matters investigated and prosecuted by, among others, the U.S. Department of Justice, the F.B.I., the S.E.C., state regulation/boards, the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Inspector. Webster is also experienced in collection of judgments and enforcement of creditors’ rights through trials, garnishments, receiverships, charging orders and other post-judgment collection proceedings aimed at increasing the collectible value of judgments. He has successfully asserted judgment holder and creditor’s claims across the United States, resulting in full recovery of the debt owed.

Webster is a graduate of University of Texas School of Law (J.D., with honors, 2010) and Lehigh University (M.A., 2007; B.A., with highest honors, 2006). Prior to joining Bell Nunnally, he served as an active-duty Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the U.S. Army, where he represented military forces. Most recently, Webster served as a U.S. Army Officer with the Texas Army National Guard JAG Corps, assigned as trial counsel for the 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
