Bell Nunnally intellectual property and entertainment attorney Danica L. Mathes was recently featured in a segment on WFAA-TV’s News 8 program speaking about the pervasiveness of copyright infringement in the music industry in light of allegations by a Dallas-based singer/songwriter that her producer stole her original score and gave it to another recording artist without consent.
Danica notes, "The players are actually involved in the original recording, so, sadly this happens quite often. People take part of a song and redo it for another artist without maybe the owner's permission to do so."
