On November 8th, attorney Brent Turman presented a paper he authored titled, “A Content Creator’s Guide to Staying (or Getting) Out of the Courtroom” at the Texas State Bar’s annual Entertainment Law Institute in Austin.
Brent discussed causes of action affecting media and content produces, including defamation, business defamation, violation of the right of publicity. Brent also addressed like Texas’ anti-SLAPP law (the Texas Citizens Participation Act) and Defamation Mitigation Act, both of which content creators and media members can use to their advantage when a legal action may be on the horizon.
