Saba F. Syed
Biography
Saba Syed understands the value of meaningful and efficient discourse with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. She focuses on getting a “win” for clients by evaluating their specific needs and goals and looking for creative solutions to avoid litigation. When litigation is unavoidable, Saba uses her extensive and varied experience to get the best results for her clients.

Saba Syed is a litigator who represents companies and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial litigation matters in a variety of practice areas, including securities, business torts, patent and trademark disputes, partnership disputes, and real estate litigation. Recognized by her peers, Saba was named to D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas” list for 2021 and 2022 and to the The Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list for 2021 and 2022.


Saba is experienced in a variety of arbitration venues, including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and has represented consumers and financial advisors in financial disputes. She also works with clients in the live events and hospitality industries, assisting with trademark issues and providing industry-specific legal counsel.

Active in the legal community, Saba is a frequent CLE presenter, a Barrister of the Higginbotham Inn of Court, and was awarded the Dallas Bar Association’s “Outstanding Minority Attorney Award” in 2019.

Representative Matters
  • Obtained multi-million dollar settlement on behalf of defrauded client investor in FINRA arbitration dispute.
  • Secured the dismissal of a $27 million premises liability dispute on behalf of Dallas-area nightclub investors, including a retired professional athlete.
  • Won a take-nothing jury verdict in favor of a Texas-based manufacturer of award winning downhole sand and gas separation products in a week-long patent infringement lawsuit involving downhole tube separators.
  • Served as lead associate for trial team in obtaining take-nothing defense verdict in a federal jury trial on behalf of international grain exporter on claim of fraudulent inducement. The jury returned the take-nothing defense verdict in less than 10 minutes of deliberation.
  • Secured a judgment exceeding $24 million on behalf of an elderly individual investor against a financial advisor in a Ponzi-scheme dispute.
  • Defeated a $4.7 million lost profits claim on summary judgment against an electric delivery provider in a negligence and gross negligence dispute. 
  • Secured a take-nothing summary judgment against a $3 million age discrimination claim filed by a high-level sales director against a manufacturer for prefabricated construction solutions in age-discrimination lawsuit, later affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of commercial landlord real estate investment trust in acceleration of lease case, successfully defending summary judgment on appeal.
  • Obtained summary judgment at oral argument in favor of national hair restoration company, resulting in complete dismissal of Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims.
  • Obtained turnover order and defended turnover order at oral argument on appeal.
  • Successfully represented publicly traded real estate investment trust in bad faith security deposit retention claim, resulting in full dismissal of lawsuit.
  • Obtained favorable settlement for vehicle supplier involving Texas Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act, after obtaining several favorable rulings at pre-trial oral argument hearings.
  • Secured favorable settlement in contentious will contest dispute.
  • Served as lead counsel for dozens of garnishments across Texas and successfully defended garnishments at oral argument in motions to dissolve writ of garnishment hearings. One garnishment resulted in the full satisfaction of a judgment exceeding $500,000.
